It's built to tow a boat

You need to know how you tie the tow rope when towing a boat. A bridle refers to a line that is tied around your tow line but should never be tied directly to your main tow line. This can cause uneven tension and unstable boats. Instead, wrap the bridle in a loop at the towline. This will allow it to move back and forth, distributing the tension evenly.

How To

How to become an Automotive Technician

An automotive technician provides repair services and maintenance to vehicles. He/she works at automotive shops, garages or service centers. He/she repairs cars, trucks, motorbikes and snowmobiles for customers. An automotive technician must be capable of diagnosing problems and making repairs safely, accurately and efficiently.

An associate degree from a vocational school is required for anyone who wishes to become an automotive technician. After completing this program, he/she will need to pass the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence's (ASE) certification exam. ASE stands to American Society of Mechanical Engineers. The ASE certification test consists of two sections. One section tests mechanical knowledge; the second section tests practical skills. To take the test, you must visit one of the approved testing locations. These locations can be found online or at your local auto dealer.

A candidate must pass the state exam after passing the test to become an automotive technician. The process will vary depending on where an applicant lives. Some states require that applicants attend a training class, while others allow them freedom to study at their own pace. Some states permit technicians to work immediately after they are granted their license. Others require them to wait at least six consecutive months before they can be licensed.

Apply to your local dealership to become an automotive technician. Most new employees begin as apprentices once they are hired. Apprenticeship programs typically last three to four years. This is when a student can learn how to do basic repairs such as changing oil, adjusting brakes and replacing tires. Some students are able to perform more advanced repairs such as replacing shocks and installing air filters. Schools offer classes during business hours. Some schools also offer evening classes when needed.

Once a student completes his/her apprenticeship, he/she becomes a journeyman. Journeymen generally spend four- to five decades learning how to fix major systems like transmissions. They learn how to do complex repairs such as remanufacturing engines, rebuilding transmissives, and troubleshooting electronic components. Because they have a good understanding of the job and what customers expect, many employers prefer to hire journeymen.

After passing the exams, candidates may be eligible to open their own shop if they pass all requirements. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics in 2010, nearly 1.7 Million automotive mechanic jobs were available. This number was expected increase 18% between 2009 - 2020. Candidates who decide to open their own business should be prepared to invest thousands in equipment and supplies.

The salary of an automotive technician will depend on many factors including where you live, your education level, experience and the type of employer. On average, a jobless person could expect to earn $20,000 annually. Someone who has only a highschool diploma could earn around 21,000 dollars per year. Those with an associate's degree earned approximately $24,000 per year. Technicians with a bachelor's degree earn about $27,000 per annum. Master's degree holders make around $32,000 annually. Salary increases can be common. A professional who earns less that $30,000 today could reasonably expect a $40,000 increase in the next few decades.
