It was very popular despite not being very affordable. Although it quickly became one the most loved MGs, it wasn't the first British sports car. Here are some things to know about the MG M-Type.

Morris Garages was created in 1924. MG was sold to Morris Motors as a subsidiary of Nuffield Organisation. British Motor Corporation absorbed MG in 1952 and British Leyland in 1968. After the war, MG produced two-seat saloons, the TA/B Midget and the TD Midget. In the decade that followed, production stopped when Morris Motors merged with Austin Motor Company.

Triumph TR6

The TR6, a British sports car that was built in the late 1960s or early 1970s is one of Britain's most iconic. It is the last of the TR series of cars. Its single-curve body was created to compete with the Austin-Healey 100. It was priced PS200 cheaper than its counterpart. Ken Richardson, a racing car engineer, first tried the car. He had reservations about its speed. The engine was later modified by Richardson, who made the TR6.

The TR5 was the predecessor and was built on a Michelotti body. It was then updated by Karmann, Germany. The 2.5-liter inline-6 engine produced 100 horsepower and 143 pound-feet torque. The car felt sporty yet powerful. It also had a smooth and responsive transmission. This car has a solid body and a clean undercarriage, though it lacks the massive rubber bumper guards.

Lotus 7

The Lotus Seven British sport car was first introduced to the marketplace in 1957. It was a light sports car made with aluminum panels and a space frame chassis. The car was sold as a complete kit by Lotus. There were no compromises for passenger comfort. This British sports car focused on performance and low cost production. British performance was made famous by the Lotus 7.

The first Series 1 Seven was equipped with fibreglass-flared front wings that acted like fairy wings and guaranteed lift at high speeds. Designed for high speed, this lightweight sports car was also fitted with a Coventry Climax FWA SOHC inline-four engine. This engine would later become the Lotus 1C. It is a classic Lotus sports car. The Lotus 7 has received several design awards for its aerodynamics, and the Series 4 has a distinctive design that has stood the test of time.

Take classes at community colleges or universities if you're interested to work in automotive. Many schools offer programs specific to students interested in sales, auto repair, or customer service.

Mechanical engineering should be your first choice for a degree. You can earn a bachelor's in as little four years.

Many employers will also hire graduates straight from school. So, it is wise to begin searching for employment while you are still able to study part time.

After you have completed your education, you will likely need some training to be able to work as an automotive technician.

You will need to pass the Automotive Service Excellence certification exam. This test covers engine maintenance and brakes as well as suspension.

Once you've passed the ASE test, you can apply for a license issued by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence.

You can repair vehicles owned by private citizens with a license. You'll get compensation based on the amount of services you perform.

Not all states require licensing. You will need a license if you want to work in a different state.

What type of job is there for a car mechanic?

Car mechanics can find work in three areas:

  • Automotive repair shops
  • Dealerships
  • Independent garages

Automotive repair shops

It's where most people start to think about becoming a mechanic. It's the easiest way for most people to get started. You have two options: work in an existing shop or open your own.

If you are interested in working at a shop you will need to apply for membership to a union. Once you have been accepted into the Union, you'll be given training by the union.

You'll be ready for work once you have completed the training.

If you decide to open your own garage, you'll need to register with the government. Once you have registered, certain standards will be enforced.

You will receive a license to run your garage once you have registered.

Your license will allow you to sell spare parts and do minor repairs. It will not permit you to fix major engine issues.

In addition to selling spare parts, you'll also be expected to offer advice and guidance to customers.

Dealership jobs

Most dealerships employ mechanics that specialize in one aspect of the vehicle. They might specialize in one area, such as brakes and tires.

Some dealers also have general mechanics that can handle all aspects.

Some positions require that applicants complete training before they can be allowed to work. This means employers can choose which candidates are best suited for their role.

Some dealerships will hire graduates straight from college. These graduates already know the basics of mechanical engineering and therefore have no problem learning about cars.

Independent garages

Independent garages don’t have to be associated with any particular dealer. They are more focused on providing top-quality service.

Independent garages can pay higher wages because they aren't associated with any company. Because these jobs don't have to be associated with any company, they can generally offer better wages than dealerships.

Independent garages can be just as good places to work, but this does not mean they are better. Many owners prefer to run their businesses themselves rather than delegate responsibility to employees.

This could lead to you working long hours with little control over your day.

Additionally, you should expect to earn lower wages if employed by a dealership.

There are many jobs that can be switched between. If you want to work at a dealership, then you simply need to ask your current employer if he would consider hiring you as a mechanic instead.

If you prefer to work in an independent garage, you might consider applying directly to its owner.

Unfortunately, finding a new job can be difficult. There are plenty of other factors that influence how much you earn.

For example, the type of vehicle you repair and whether you charge extra for labor.

How To

How to become an automotive technician

A technician who works on vehicles is an automotive technician. He/she works at car dealerships, auto shops, garages, service centers, etc. He/she assists customers in fixing their cars, trucks or motorcycles. A technician in automotive must be able diagnose and repair problems quickly, safely, accurately, efficiently, and effectively.

To become an automotive technician, a person must first earn an associate's degree from a vocational college. After completing this program, he/she will need to pass the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence's (ASE) certification exam. ASE stands in for American Society of Mechanical Engineers. There are two sections to the ASE certification test. The first section tests the ability to use mechanical knowledge. The second section tests the ability to apply practical skills. To pass the test, you will need to visit an authorized testing location. These locations are available online or through your local automotive dealer.

Before becoming an automotive technician, a candidate must pass the test. This process can vary depending on where the applicant lives. Some states require candidates to complete a training program, while others let them study on their own. Some states issue licenses to technicians as soon as they get their license. Others wait until they have worked at least six months as an automotive technician.

An applicant should apply to a local auto shop in order to start their career as an automotive technician. Most new employees begin as apprentices once they are hired. Apprenticeships last for three years. During this time, a student learns how to perform basic repairs, such as changing oil, adjusting brakes, replacing tires, cleaning spark plugs, inspecting engine compartments, and performing routine maintenance. Advanced repairs can be done by some students, including replacing shocks, installing air filters and repairing engines. Classes are offered by most schools during regular business hours. However, there are some schools that offer evening classes for those who need them.

Once a student is done with his/her apprenticeship he/she can become a master journeyman. Journeymen usually spend four to five year learning how to install major systems like transmissions, differentials steering gear, suspensions, drive shafts, and steering gear. They are also taught how to troubleshoot electrical components and remanufacture engines. Many employers prefer to hire Journeymen because they understand the job well.

Once a candidate passes the required exams and is granted a license, they might consider opening their own shop. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics in 2010, nearly 1.7 Million automotive mechanic jobs were available. That number was expected to grow by 18 percent from 2009 to 2020. When a candidate plans to open his/her own shop he/she should be ready to invest thousands of dollars in equipment.

Many factors affect the automotive technician's salary, including location, education, experience, and employer type. On average, an unemployed person could earn $20,000 annually. A person with only a high-school diploma could make around $21,000 annually. Earnings for those with an associate's diploma are approximately $24,000/year. Technicians with a bachelor's degree earn about $27,000 per annum. And those with master's degrees made around $32,000 per year. Salaries are increasing so that a professional earning less than $30,000 could expect to make $40,000 in a few years.
